Abstract

https://doi.org/10.56676/kiad.1533755

Abstract

The fact that communication technologies have become an integral part of contemporary life brings with it many challenges. One of the most important challenges posed by the widespread use of communication technologies is the phenomenon of phubbing (sociotelism). This term refers to a scenario where an individual disregards or overlooks another person during face-to-face communication by focusing excessively on mobile phones or other electronic devices. This study aims to construct a resource map for this concept, which has gained prominence in recent years, applying the bibliometric analysis method. In this study, 345 studies obtained from the Web of Science digital database are analyzed using the bibliometric analysis method and VOSviewer display techniques. According to the data obtained from the study, when the number of publications, research areas, authors' interest, and countries' tendency of the studies on this concept is taken into consideration, it is among the results obtained that the studies on the phubbing phenomenon have recently come to the fore.
