Abstract

Sinemada mizansen unsurları arasındaki uyum, filmin içeriğini ve algılanmasını doğrudan etkilemektedir. Yönetmen tarafından bu uyumu yaratabilmek için yapılan tercihler, filmin estetiğini oluşturmaktadır. Mizansen eleştirisi, yönetmenin tercihleri ile film arasındaki ilişkiyi sorgulama olanağı sunmakta ve mizansene dair birçok unsuru analiz etmektedir. Bu çalışma, yönetmen Justine Triet’in Bir Düşüşün Anatomisi (2023, Anatomie d'une chute) adlı filmini Mizansen Eleştirisi Yöntemiyle çözümlemektedir. Film analizinde mizansen eleştirisi, filme dair yapılan bütün tercihleri kapsamaktadır. Bu bakımdan çalışma, filmin içeriğine bağlı olarak mizansen eleştirisini dekor/mekân, oyunculuk, ses, kamera açıları ve hareketleri üzerinden ele almaktadır. Böylece yönetmenin mizansene dair tercihlerinin irdelenmesi ve bu tercihlerin anlatıyla olan ilişkisinin ortaya konulması amaçlanmaktadır. Çalışma sonucunda yönetmenin, filmin muğlak/düşündürücü yapısını, konu ile mizansen unsurları arasında ilişki kurarak desteklediği ve gerçekçi bir anlatı meydana getirdiği tespit edilmiştir.

The Presentation of an Ambiguous Death to the Audience: A Mise-en-Scène Critique of the Anatomy of a Fall

Abstract

The harmony among the elements of mise-en-scène in cinema significantly impacts the content and the audience's perception of a film. The director's choices in creating this harmony inclusively shape the film's aesthetics. Analyzing mise-en-scène allows for a critical examination of how these choices relate to the film itself and involves a detailed exploration of various components of mise-en-scène.This study analyzes director Justine Triet's film Anatomy of a Fall (2023, Anatomie d'une chute) using the method of mise-en-scène criticism. In film analysis, mise-en-scène criticism covers all the choices made about the film. In this respect, depending on the content of the film, the study deals with mise-en-scène criticism through decor/space, acting, sound, camera angles, and movements. Thus, it aims to examine the director's choices regarding mise-en-scène and reveal the relationship between these choices and the narrative. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the director supports the film's ambiguous/thought-provoking structure by establishing a relationship between the subject and the elements of mise-en-scène, creating a realistic narrative.
