KARESİ Journal of Architecture is an open-access, double-blind peer-reviewed academic journal aiming at the free circulation and distribution of information. It is an electronic journal since 2022,e-published twice a year, in June and December. The publication language of the journal is Turkish and English. The subjects covered in the journal are from the fields of architecture, city and regional planning, urban design, landscape architecture, industrial product design, building physics, sustainability, cultural heritage, and social science studies related to these fields. The works in the journal are expected to be original and scientific research studies with international originality, whose contribution to the relevant literature has been proven by qualitative, experimental and analytical methods.
The journal is open access, there is no charge for submitting articles, article transactions and publication. The published issues can be accessed free of charge from the web page of the magazine.
Articles such as criticism, evaluation and compilation articles, case studies, technical reports and notes, letters to the editor, discussions, competition criticisms and analysis studies are also accepted in the journal, with priority being given to original research articles in the mentioned fields. In addition, special files consisting of works selected from the papers presented in congresses organized in all fields of architecture and design will be included.
KARESİ Journal of Architecture is open to contributions to the publications produced in the specified fields of interest. The articles in the journal are expected to confront current issues in the above mentioned fields and to encourage scientific discussions on related issues.
The articles submitted for publication in the journal are reviewed and evaluated by double-blind refereeing method after the editorial preliminary review. The forms required for all articles can be obtained from the journal web page.
In addition to current issues, theory, design, planning and application studies in the fields of architecture, design, city and regional planning, urban planning, landscape architecture, industrial product design, building physics, sustainability and cultural heritage, studies prepared on the basis of social sciences related to these fields are also included. gives. The works in the journal are expected to be original and scientific research studies that have international originality and whose contribution to the relevant literature has been proven by qualitative, experimental and analytical methods.
PRESENTATION OF MANUSCRIPTS
The articles should be prepared in A4 size using the ‘Office Word’ program and their length should not exceed 25 pages and 8000 words with all visual and written materials. All parts of the article should be included in the word count calculation.
The authors must comply with all the rules set out in this manual. Articles that do not comply with the rules are returned to the authors for correction before being submitted for review.
The articles to be submitted for publication in the journal should consist of the following sections and should be forwarded to the Editor-in-Chief via the specified electronic system. Applications to be made by other methods will not be taken into consideration.

Curriculum Vitae
The CV page must be prepared as a separate MS Word file. The identity page should include the name (s)of the author (s), the institutions they are affiliated with, their duties, the city, region, country they live in and the CV text.
Resumes should be communicated in English and, if necessary, also in Turkish, should be prepared separately for each author and should not exceed 50 words. The email address of the author should be added at the end of each resume.

Title, Abstract and Keywords
The title page of the article should consist of Turkish and English title (14 point and dark), abstract and abstract (10 point) and keywords. Titles should be prepared to best reflect the content and be as short as possible.
Summary in English and Turkish should be provided regardless of the language of the article. In summary, the title translation should also be delivered. According to the length of the article, the summary is expected to be between 200-800 words. It must not exceed 1000 words under any circumstances. Abstract; should include descriptive information about the purpose, basic findings and results of the article and should not include source representation unless necessary. At least 3 and at most 5 keywords should be prepared in the own language of the abstract. The number of words and keywords covering all parts of the article should be included under the relevant summary.
MAIN TEXT
The writings should be prepared in A4 size using the ‘Office Word’ program and their length should not exceed 25 pages and 8000 words with all visual and written materials. It is desired that the "track changes" feature is turned off before being transmitted. No form changes should be made other than those specified below. The text should be 11 font size, with the character ‘Times New Roman’ and one and a half line spacing. In writing, a character space should be left after punctuation such as comma, dot, semicolon.
Initial indentation should not be used in the paragraphs, and 6nk space should be left after the paragraph. The text should be edited side-by-side. Paragraphs should also not contain blank lines.
If the text is subdivided, these sections are indicated by the numbers placed on the left side of the text. The main and subheadings should be written in bold and recessed to the left. Subheadings should be numbered in decimal such as 1., 1.1., 1.1.1., 1.1.2. The third level is considered as the last subdivision and should not be further detailed. All letters of the main titles should be written in capital letters and 12 font size, and only the initials of the subtitles should be written in capital letters, and all main and intermediate titles should be 11 font size. Headings should be segmented up to a maximum of 5 levels. 1 line should be left before the main titles and no space should be left after the title. No line spaces should be left both before and after the subheadings.

QUOTES AND SUBMISSIONS
Quotes
In the text, quotes can be made in accordance with ethical criteria, provided that they are referenced. It is recommended to avoid direct quotation. However, in unavoidable cases; the quote should be taken in double quotation marks and should be written with 9 point and single line spacing starting from 1 cm inside from the left. Attribution or source information should be provided at the end of the quote. When quoted in this way, the skipped parts should be indicated by three dots. The author's opinion in the excerpt can be added in square brackets. The names of the buildings and places in Turkish should be protected exactly. In mathematical representations, facilitated representations that can be used in the string phase should be preferred. Equations should be numbered on the right side of the text and within the separator. Symbols and names that are not common or common in a field other than journal specialties are requested to be defined by underlining in the first use.

In the period between 1951-1980, the arrangements for the measures to be taken after the disaster were emphasized. In the illustrations related to the resources provided on the internet, the publication year is given after the author or institution name in the text. They are characterized by natural hazard events, their magnitude, severity, starting speed, duration and areas of influence (UNISDR, 2009). The cited online work must be provided with the full URL and full access date in the “Resources” section.
References
The American Psychological Association (APA) or IEEE style should be used for the reference system, footnote display format and bibliography editing of articles. References should be made in brackets (author surname, date: page no) or in square brackets [number] using the conjunction method in the text. If there is no author name, the institution name can be written. In case of annotations, it should be written as a footnote at the bottom of the page and in 8 font size. If more than one work of the same author published within a year is cited, it should be shown in the works with the letters a, b, c next to the year.
If the source is a website and the author is known, a similar reference should be made to periodicals. If the author is unknown, the institution of the website should be written. If the date of the internet source is not given, the abbreviation of the unknown date (n.d) should be written instead of the date. Date of access to the site and web address should be provided.
All references used in the article should be found in the bibliography section. Resources should be sorted alphabetically by author surname. The works of the same author in different years should be put into the bibliography starting from the "oldest date". The works of the same author in the same year should be sorted according to the alphabetical order of their first letters by using letters such as a, b, c.
VISUAL MATERIAL
Tables
All visual materials (tables, figures, graphics, etc.) in the article should be placed in the appropriate places of the text in a sequentially numbered form and centered on the page. Each visual material must have a title. If there will be more than one visual material for a title, the title can be explained accordingly by expressing it with letters such as a, b, c. The title should be written on the page under the visual material, with the center, only the initials of the first word and special names being large, and in 10 font size. The text in the visual material should be in the range of 8-10 fonts and prepared in the font ‘Times New Roman’. The dimensions of the visual material must be arranged in such a way as to ensure that it is legible and understandable.
Tables can be transmitted in MSWord and in text if created in accordance with the conditions. However, due to the technical obligations for publication, the editor has right to request. If the tables are transmitted in a program other than MSword, they should be transmitted in separate files in "pdf", "jpeg" or "tiff" format, indicating the number and six titles. In addition, its position should be determined in the text. Table headings should be provided where the table should be included in the text. The representation should be in the form of Table 1…..

Visual Documents
Writers are requested to submit the original visual documents. In order for the published visual documents to be published without the written permission of the owners, a period of 10 years is required for technical subjects and a period of 50 years for fine art subjects.
International and national broadcasting rights agreements, copyright and broadcasting laws apply. Copyright of all kinds of original articles, pictures, drawings and photographs published in the journal belongs to the author. In order to use such documents that do not expire belonging to another person or institution, they must be submitted to the editor by the author with the written permission of the relevant person or institutions.
All of the images to be used in the article must be delivered as separate files, and the naming must be made in accordance with the name and location given in the document (Figure 1.). It is desired that the resolutions of the images should be 300 dpi and the horizontal edges should be 10 cm (1200 pixels). Subsequently sized images cannot be accepted because they will not be correct in printing.
When the image needs to be large due to technical reasons, it should be notified to the Editor and it should be maximum 18 cm x 24 cm in order to be placed in the page.
Visual Document Naming
The naming of the images should be done according to their type and the order in which they are used in the text. Photograph, drawing and picture names are required to be shown in the text as; (Image 1), (Image 2). Below the image, align with the image:

Formulas
In formula representations; options that will facilitate equation, sequence and symbolization signs should be preferred. For example:

will prevent errors in the string process as well as shorten and accelerate the processes. Equations should be numbered in a separator on the right side and links related to these numbers should be established in the text. Uncommon symbols and terms should be underlined and explained in the first use.
Icons and abbreviations
All special abbreviations made in the text and the symbols used in the formulas should be given under the text before the bibliography.
All figures occurring per sentence must be indicated in writing.
REFEREE SUGGESTIONS
Applicants are expected to recommend their writings as 2 (two) expert referees, which they think they can evaluate academically. The file containing the referee suggestions and which must be forwarded separately; the contact information of the referees should be included. The proposal of the author is taken into consideration when appointing the referee, but the suggestions are not binding.
POST-ACCEPTANCE
The authors of the articles accepted for publication are informed by e-mail. After this stage, the authors are contacted and the issues that need to be done by the authors in order to prepare the article for publication are communicated and are expected to be completed immediately. The responsibility for eliminating the problems and deficiencies identified at this stage belongs to the author.
After the typing process of the article is completed, it is sent to the author for review and approval. At this stage, only formal interventions are allowed. In cases where the content change is deemed necessary by the author, the editor reserves the right to re-submit the article to the referee.
OTHER ISSUES
Karesi Journal of Architecture pays attention to the correct and clean use of language and the correctness of academic terminology. The use of foreign equivalents of words in Turkish is expected as it is considered that deriving technical concepts and patterns that do not have equivalent terms in the target language is within the scope of academic responsibility. In compulsory situations foreign words or concepts should be written in italics. Turkish words and concepts that did not exist before or are not widely used should be written in parentheses next to their foreign counterparts, and then Turkish counterparts should continue to be used in the continuation of the text.
In cases where the spelling rules are not mentioned above, the considerations adopted in scientific writings should be taken into account.

ETHICS AND PUBLICATION POLICY
KARESİ Architecture of Journal has adopted the rules of universal publication principles. In the studies prepared within the framework of scientific and international rules; all components of the publication process (publishers, editors, authors, referees and readers) must comply with ethical principles.
These ethical principles have been prepared in accordance with the guidelines and regulations of the Higher Education Institutions Scientific Research and Publication Ethics Directive (https://www.yok.gov.tr/Sayfalar/Kurumsal/mevzuat/bilimsel-arastirma-ve-etik-yonetmeligi. aspx) prepared by the Publication Ethics Committee (COPE/Committee on Publication Ethics) (https://publicationethics.org/) and published in open access.
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF AUTHORS
1. The author(s) must not submit a work published or submitted for publication in another publication to the Journal of Architecture.
2. The works submitted by the author(s) must be original. The author(s) should accurately refer to and quote the sources they used during the writing of the article in accordance with ethical principles. In addition, it is the author's responsibility to obtain copyright permission when necessary for visual materials.
3. Situations and relationships that may constitute a conflict of interest/unity of interest regarding the works submitted for publication should be explained.
4. Persons who do not contribute to the content in the creation of the study should not be mentioned as authors. It should not be suggested to change the order of authors, to remove and/or to add authors of a study submitted for publication, to remove or add authors.
5. Information, explanation or raw data about their articles can be requested from the author(s) during the evaluation process.
6. The author(s) must have a document showing that the rights of use of the data used, the permissions related to the research/analysis or the approvals of the participants they have researched have been obtained.
7. The author(s) has the right and obligation to contact and cooperate with the editor and/or editorial board for information, correction or withdrawal procedures in the event that he/she discovers an error related to the study during the evaluation or early appearance phase.
8. The author(s) should upload the document showing that ethics committee approval (ethics committee name, decision date/number specified on the first or last page of the article or ethics committee decision specified in the method section) has been obtained for the studies requiring data collection by quantitative or qualitative methods such as experiments, questionnaires, scales, interviews, and observations.
9. The papers presented in scientific meetings can be proposed to be published as articles in the Journal of Architecture by expanding their contents. If the article has previously been presented anywhere as a paper, thesis, etc., or prepared by using project/research support (the study that is the basis of the article, by which persons/institutions it is supported), it should be stated in the ‘Thank you and Information Note’ section of the journal writing format.
10. The author(s) should avoid bias, general opinion, slang, dominant culture and cultural assumptions in the text.
11. The author(s) must respond to the assessments of the reviewers in a timely manner.
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS, DEPUTY EDITORS AND FIELD EDITORS
1. Editors are neutral. Referees should endeavor to meet the information, skills and experience needs of the author(s), researcher, practitioner and reader, to give feedback when necessary, and to act in accordance with the principles of clarity on issues that require correction and explanation in the publication process.
2. When deciding on the publication of articles, editors take care that the articles are original and contribute to scientific field publication, readers, researchers and practitioners.
3. Editors evaluate the original value of the studies, their contribution to the field, the validity and reliability of the research method, the clarity of the narrative and the purpose and scope of the journal.
4. Editors take the applied studies into the preliminary evaluation stage by the editorial board, take into account the arbitrator's suggestions and do not change the decisions made by the previous editor(s) unless necessary.
5. The editors implement the bilateral blind refereeing and evaluation process policies that are among the publication policies of the journal, keep the identity information of the referees confidential, and ensure that the impartial and timely evaluation process of each article is completed.
6. Editors provide the authors with descriptive and informative notifications and returns.
7. Editors submit the articles taking into account the field of expertise of the editors and referees, and support the impartial and independent evaluation.
8. Editors provide the information and guidance that the reviewers will need during the evaluation phase.
9. The editors guarantee the independent and impartial completion of the publication process of the works, taking into account whether there is a conflict of interest - unity - between the editors, referees and the author(s) for the impartial evaluation of the article.
10. Editors ensure that the referee pool is inclusive and continuously improve it.
11. Editors block unscientific assessments that do not follow academic etiquette.
12. Editors ensure that journal publishing processes are operated in accordance with publication policies and guidelines, keep them informed of developments in publication policies in the process and prepare training programs when necessary.
13. Editors communicate effectively with everyone involved in the publishing process and hold meetings at regular intervals for the development of publishing policies and journal.
14. Editors are responsible for publishing each article published in the journal in accordance with journal publishing policies and international standards.
15. Editors ensure the protection of personal data in the studies evaluated, and protect the individual data of the author, referee and readers.
16. Editors are obliged to ensure the protection of human and animal rights in the studies evaluated. They care about documenting the explicit consent of the participants in the studies and are obliged to refuse to work if they do not have permissions in experimental research where ethics committee approval is required for the participants of the study.
17. In case of complaints about abuse of office, editors make an objective investigation and share the relevant findings.
18. Editors ensure that judgments containing errors, inconsistencies or misleading in the works are corrected.
19. Editors protect the intellectual property rights of published articles, defend the rights of the journal and the author(s) in case of infringement. They also take the necessary measures to ensure that the content of the published articles does not infringe the intellectual property rights of other publications.
20. Editors take into account consistent criticism of the studies published in the journal, and give the right to respond to the author(s) of the criticized articles.
21. Editors are obliged to examine the complaints from the author, referee or readers and make the necessary explanations.
ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF REFEREES
In the article evaluation process of KARESİ Architecture Journal, the principle of double-sided blind refereeing is applied, which the author(s) do not know the referees and vice versa. Referees cannot communicate directly with the authors; the article evaluation forms and the notes and correction requests specified on the text are forwarded to the author(s) through the journal management system. In this context, referees who will evaluate the articles applied to Karesi Mimarlık Journal should bear the following ethical responsibilities:
1. Only agree to evaluate articles related to his/her area of expertise.
2. It must be impartial and conduct objective and scientific evaluation in confidentiality.
3. In accordance with the principle of confidentiality, they should destroy the studies they examine after the evaluation process, but use them after they are published.
4. The evaluation should be made objectively only in relation to the content of the study; issues such as nationality, gender, religious belief, political opinion and commercial anxiety should not impair the impartiality of the evaluation.
5. When they understand that there is a conflict of interest/unity in the evaluation process, they should inform the editors by refusing to review the study.
6. Make constructive criticisms in accordance with academic etiquette and avoid personal comments involving insults and hostility.
7. They should evaluate the article they have agreed to evaluate within the deadline.
8. Inform the Editor(s)of any suspected ethical violations.
PUBLICATION POLICY
KARESİ Journal of Architecture uses the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ/https://doaj.org/apply/transparency/). Transparency principles are taken as a reference in scientific publishing. In accordance with the publication policy, the content of the journal can be accessed online at no charge. Karesi Journal of Architecture does not charge any product processing fee and article submission fee. Anyone can view and download articles in PDF format from the journal's web page.
It is a common-periodical publication and is published twice a year.
As the evaluation process and period after uploading an article to the Karesi-Architecture Journal system;
1. Pre-Check (4 to 6 weeks),
2. Evaluation (10 to 14 weeks)
3. Layout arrangements (4 weeks) is carried out in 3 stages and in a total of at least 24 weeks.
However, all these processes may vary depending on the intensity. The studies uploaded to the system can only be withdrawn by the authors in the preliminary control processes.

The authors are responsible for the publications published in KARESİ Architecture Journal. Any committee of the journal is not responsible for the opinions and opinions contained in the published articles.
Copyrights
During the article submission phase, a publication agreement is signed between the author(s) and Karesi Journal of Architecture. This agreement grants the copyrights of the published article to the author(s), completes the ‘Copyright Transfer Form' in the journal system and transfers the publication rights and all related privileges to Karesi Journal of Architecture.
Notifying the Editor of the Situation that does not comply with the Ethical Principles
In the event of a behavior that does not comply with the ethical principles related to editors, referees, authors; or an unethical situation related to an article in the evaluation process, preliminary evaluation or published, the journal should be notified by e-mail provided in the web address.
Plagiarism Assessment Process
The authors are responsible for the content of their work and must adhere to the principles presented under the title of ethical responsibilities of the authors. The submitted studies are checked by the authors for plagiarism with iThentcate ® (Plagiarism Detection Software) and similar programs (excluding resources). Studies with a similarity rate of more than 20% are rejected by the journal editorial board.
No fee is charged from the author or institution under any name.
