A STUDY ON THE EFFECTS OF POLITICAL VALUES ON VOTER BEHAVIOR
Abstract
Political values which are an important case that is considered in the assessment of the future and improves in the light of experience gained in the lives of voters. While the scope of value has a fairly broad concept it ensures also political values has a very different definition of sub values. Thus political values can be evaluated in a line wide ranging economic assessments to the belief in the moral and social values which belong to the individual.
The aim of this study is to determine the effect of the respective values of the political party preference and thus reveal the relationship between voter behavior and political values with defining the values that voters have in the scope of economic and non-economic values. To be suitable for this purpose a scale with 37 expressions which is developed by Rose and McAllister (1990) and a survey is conducted in İzmir province with the participation of 1013 people. As a result, the political values of the electorate significantly differentiate preferences of political parties and especially non- economic political values dimensions has been found to provide a high-level differentiation in political party preferences. The study was completed with results and suggestions.
