NEW HETERODOX DEVELOPMENTS IN ECONOMICS
Abstract
Economic crises cause re-evaluations of present theories in economics and lead the search for new paradigms. As a result of the searches for a breakthrough, economics have changed and expanded by means of its scope, contents and methodology. This change affected the bifurcation in contents via adding traditional and new heterodox approaches to the original orthodox-heterodox dichotomy. Orthodox economics means that the economic thinking is supposed to limit itself with consumption, distribution, growth and stability while heterodox economics is interested with effects/incidences related to economy and society. New heterodox economics is emerged under the imperialistic effects of other sciences. Traditional heterodox perspectives are Institutional Economics, Marxist Economics, Austrian School and post-Keynesians whereas new heterodox perspectives have come into sight as Behavioral Economics, Experimental Economics, Evolutionary Economics, Neuroeconomics and Complexity Economics under the influences of physics, biology, mathematics, computer sciences, neurology and psychology. In this research, new developments relations with other sciences have been investigated and commonalities in new heterodox economics have been put forth in the conclusions.
