Abstract

In contemporary times, a trend toward modern leadership that centers on the individual by integrating soft and hard skills has existed. Compassionate leadership, unlike traditional approaches, encompasses behaviors such as demonstrating empathy, taking action, being present, maintaining awareness, and engaging in effective communication within the organization. This study involved the adaptation of the Compassionate Leadership Behavior Inventory (CLBI) scale to Turkish culture, with participation from 432 employees in the TR62 and TR42 trade regions. Analyses were conducted to explore the construct validity and reliability of the adapted Compassionate Leadership (MERLD) scale. The exploratory factor analysis (EFA) included 207 participants from the TR62 region, while the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) included 225 participants from the TR42 region, across two distinct samples. The EFA and CFA results confirmed that the MERLD scale retains the original structure of four factors and 24 items (CMIN\DF: 1,256, RMSEA: 0,024, CFI: 0,997, GFI: 0,953, NFI: 0,968). Furthermore, the second-order model validation of the MERLD scale revealed significant relationships among the dimensions of demonstrating empathy, being present, showing respect, being responsible, authenticity, and integrity, as anticipated in the literature. Additionally, a thorough examination of the concepts of compassion and empathy clarified the semantic differences, addressing the conceptual ambiguity in the literature.

MERHAMETLİ LİDERLİK ÖLÇEĞİNİN TÜRK KÜLTÜRÜNE UYARLANMASI ODAĞINDA MERHAMET VE ŞEFKAT KAVRAMLARINA BAKIŞ
