Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigateparental smoking and friend’s smoking effect onuniversity students smoking. Of 453 studentswhom participated in this study, 39.29% (n=178)were female, and 60.71% (n=275) were male.Data collected included measures of attitudestoward parental smoking, smoking status of university students, parents and friends. Logisticregression analysis showed that parental smoking (OR = 1.58; 95% CI: 1.02-2.44) and friend’ssmoking (OR = 6.19; 95% CI: 2.62-14.67) weresignificantly associated with university student’ssmoking. These results suggest that friends’and parents’ smoking have similarly importantinfluences on university student’s smoking
