the U.S. President Johnson, written on 6th, June, 1964 right after the Turkey's
decision in interference to Cyprus and its effects on the basis of Hürriyet Newspaper
with the method of discourse analysis. In the 1960s, the violence acts in Cyprus
reached a peak point. Turkey's efforts to find a solution to this matter and its foreign
and domestic behaviour in the milestones of Cyprus History are examined, the
process until 1964 is observed and with the discourse method the Cyprus news of
Hürriyet Newspaper, which is recognized as the leading newspaper of the Turkish
press, are investigated from the months April to June of the year 1964. Although
there are many studies regarding the Cyprus problem in the literature, there are only
a few studies based on the discourse analysis of a newspaper; thus it has been
considered that this present study will contribute to the literature. This study consists
of two chapters: History of Cyprus and the Discourse Analysis of Hürriyet
Newspaper issues from April to June 1964. For the first chapter a wide literature
scan is made and for the second chapter all Hürriyet Newspaper issues from April to
