Deprem Haberlerinde Dil, Değer ve Söylem

Öz

Enformasyon çağı olarak adlandırabileceğimiz 21. yüzyılda insanoğlunun en sık ihtiyaç duyduğu şey bilgidir. Ulaşılabilir bilgi yaratmak, bu bilginin paylaşılmasını sağlamak ve doğru hedefe aktarmak enformasyon kuramının önemli özelliklerinden biridir. Basit anlamda haber verme olarak ifade edilebilecek bu süreçte “haber” olgusu dikkate değerdir. Çünkü haber, insanın etrafındaki olayları algılama biçiminin de temel bir göstergesidir. Bu nedenle bir şeyin anlamlandırılması ve anlaşılabilmesi için doğru bilgi veya haber büyük öneme sahiptir. Medya teknolojilerinin hızla gelişmesi, bilgi ve haberin küresel bir nitelik kazanmasını da sağlamıştır. Bilgi ve haberler, gelişen teknoloji sayesinde neredeyse sınırsız erişim olanağına ulaşmıştır. Bu durumda bilginin veya haberin değerinin sorgulanmasını da beraberinde getirmektedir. Haber değeri, medyanın bir olaya ne kadar önem vereceğini belirleyen özelliktir. Bir haberi değerli kılan şeylerden biri de sunum biçimi ve o haberin aktarımında kullanılan dildir. Bu çalışmada Kahramanmaraş’ta meydana gelen ve asrın felaketi olarak nitelendirilen depreme dair yapılan haberler dil, değer ve söylem çerçevesinde ele alınacaktır. Söz konusu haberlerin haber değeri üzerinde durulacak, haber değerinin söylem üzerindeki etkisi eleştirel söylem analizi yöntemiyle değerlendirilecektir. Yöntem olarak Galtung ve Ruge’un “Haber Değeri Kriterleri” ile Wittgenstein’ın “Dil Oyunları Kuramı” işletilecektir. Bu çalışmanın medya ve iletişim çalışmaları, dilbilimi, kültür bilimi gibi farklı disiplinlerin bir arada çalışabileceği, özgün çalışmaların ortaya konulabileceği noktasında örnek olması düşünülmektedir.

Language, Value, and Discourse in Earthquake News

Öz

In the 21st century, often referred to as the Information Age, the most essential need for humanity is knowledge. Creating accessible information, ensuring its dissemination, and delivering it to the right audience are key aspects of information theory. In this process, which can simply be defined as informing, the concept of "news" is particularly significant. News serves as a fundamental indicator of how people perceive events around them. Therefore, accurate information or news is crucial for understanding and making sense of things. The rapid advancement of media technologies has given information and news a global character. Thanks to technological developments, news and information have become almost universally accessible. This has also led to discussions about their value. News value determines the importance media outlets assign to an event. One of the factors that make news valuable is its presentation and the language used in its transmission. This study examines news reports on the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, described as the disaster of the century, in terms of language, value, and discourse. It will analyze news value and its impact on discourse through critical discourse analysis. The study applies Galtung and Ruge’s "News Value Criteria" and Wittgenstein’s "Language Games Theory," aiming to serve as an interdisciplinary reference for media studies, linguistics, and cultural studies.
