To Identify Safety Measures of Mothers Against Home Accident

ABSTRACT

Objective: In this study, it is aimed to investigate the level of taking security measures for home accidents of the mothers of 0-6 years old children who applied to Düzce University Medical Faculty Hospital Pediatrics Policlinic.

Methods: This study was conducted on 117 people who agreed to participate in the research from the mothers of children aged 0-6 who applied to policlinic between 2 August 2016-1 September 2016 for any reason. The study data were collected through a questionnaire form and the scale form. In the presentation of the data, frequency, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson Chi-square and Fisher's exact tests were used, p <0.05 was considered statistically significant.

Results: As a result of the research, the mean score scale of the mothers was found 168.03 ± 20.49. When the scores obtained from the scales were evaluated, it was found that those whose mothers were younger 30 years and who had a home accident in the last 2 months were significantly higher than the others (p=0.038, p=0.010). There was no significant difference in the comparison of the demographic characteristics of the children with the home accident in the last 2 months.

Conclusion: It was found that 12.8% of the mothers with 0-6 year-olds had a house wreck in the last 2 months and 86.7% of them were male. The rate of household accidents was higher in children of mothers with primary and lower education, housewife, who was interested in the care of the child, whose age was less than 30 and had one child.
