ABSTRACT
OBJECTIVE:
The aim of the study was to compare the levels of depression and anxiety
among pregnant women versus nonpregnant women in
reproductive age and to examine its correlation with
socio-demographic characteristics.
METHODS:
50 women in
reproductive age groups and 50 nonpregnant (control group) women between 15-49
age group who have applied to the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and
Pregnant Policlinic of Gazi Osman Paşa Taksim Training and Research Hospital.

questionnaire for demographic features, Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) and Beck
Depression Inventory (BDI). The results have been statistically analyzed.
RESULTS:
The pregnant group’s BDI and BAI scores are
statistically higher than nonpregnant group. Furthermore, there is
statistically a meaningful difference in BDI and BDA scores in respect of
pregnancy period in pregnant women (p<0,05). According to the results of
comparision between the groups in order to determine the reason of the
difference; it has been found that while the score of 3rd trimester group is
meaningly higher than the score of 1st trimester group (p:0,017).
CONCLUSION:
In conclusion, findings show us that while
the quality of life declines, the level of anxiety and depression increases in
the all trimesters of pregnancy, especially in the third trimester. Depressive
symptoms during pregnancy, especifically the psychological syptoms of
depression ought to be taken seriously and should be taken as normal symptoms
of pregnancy. These symptoms should not be missed.

GEBELİKTE
DEPRESYON VE ANKSİYETE ARTAR MI?
ÖZET
AMAÇ:
Bu
çalışmanın amacı; gebelerdeki anksiyete ve depresyon seviyelerini, üreme
çağındaki gebe olmayan kadınların seviyeleriyle mukayese etmek ve
sosyodemografik özelliklerindeki korelasyonları incelemektir.
GEREÇ ve YÖNTEM:
Çalışmaya Gazi Osman Paşa Taksim
Eğitim ve Araştırma Hastanesi Kadın Hastalıkları Doğum Polikliniği ile Gebe
Polikliniğine başvuran, 15-49 yaş arası doğurganlık çağındaki 50 gebe ve 50
gebe olmayan kadın dâhil edilmiştir. Çalışmaya alınan katılımcılara
sosyodemografik sorgulama için tarafımızca hazırlanan anket formu, Beck
Anksiyete Envanteri (BAE) ve Beck Depresyon Envanteri (BDE) uygulanmıştır.
Sonuçlar istatistiksel olarak analiz edilmiştir.
BULGULAR:
Gebe
