The World Health Organization (WHO) reports and actively promotes breastfeeding as optimal nutrition for infants. However, inadequate breastfeeding remains a public health problem. Breastfeeding counseling by midwives plays a vital role in providing education and support to mothers. Telelactation services initially aimed to increase the availability and timeliness of professional breastfeeding support, as well as to bring lactation consultants to communities in need. Literature reviews have shown that these interventions not only increase the number of women who initiate breastfeeding, but also improve breastfeeding outcomes. In the belief that quality breastfeeding counseling through telelactation is a promising complement to face-to-face counseling, this review was conducted to review the use and benefits of telelactation as a solution to barriers to breastfeeding.
