MUŞ YEREL BASININDA KADIN HABERLERİNİN TEMSİLİ: ŞARK HABER GAZETESİ ÖRNEĞİ

Yerel basın, belli sınırlar içerisinde yaşayan insanların problemlerini, isteklerini dile getiren ve yönetimi halk adına denetleyen önemli bir mecradır. Yerel basın, ulusal basının görmezden geldiği birçok önemli toplumsal konuyu zor şartlara rağmen büyük bir özveriyle ele almaktadır. Bu duyarlı ve sorumluluk sahibi yaklaşım, son dönemde artan toplumsal cinsiyet ayrımcılığı konusunda da kendini göstermektedir. Çünkü bu sorun, yalnızca kadınların değil, tüm toplumun ortak bir meselesi olarak ele alınmalı ve derinlemesine irdelenmelidir. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, Muş yerel basınında kadınlara ne ölçüde yer verildiğinin tespitini yapmaktır. Çalışma aynı zamanda kadınların yerel basında ne sıklıkla görünür olduğunu ortaya koyabilmesi bakımından da değerli veriler sunacaktır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, araştırma kapsamında Muş ili örneklem olarak seçilmiştir. Muş’ta günlük olarak basılı yayımlanan tek gazete olması nedeniyle Şark Haber gazetesi bu çalışmanın örneklemini oluşturmuştur. Böylece, yerel basının kadının temsili konusundaki tutumu, ilin tek süreli yayını üzerinden sistematik bir şekilde ele alınmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında gazetenin rutin dönemlerde kadın konusunu nasıl ve ne sıklıkta ele alındığının açığa çıkarılması için araştırma tarihleri rutin bir zamandan seçilmiş; bu zaman aralıkları 1 Nisan 2025 ve 31 Mayıs 2025 olarak belirlenmiştir. İki aylık süreci kapsayan bu dönemde yayınlanan kadın konulu haberler, içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelenmiştir. Çalışmayla kadın temalı haberlere yerel basının bakış açısı, haberleri kamuoyuna aktarma şekli ve yerel basının bu haberleri nasıl inşa ettiği açığa çıkarılmıştır. Araştırmanın temel problemleri, gazetenin kadınları haberde nasıl konumlandırdığı, onlara hangi sayfalarda yer verdiği ve haberin tavrının olumlu mu yoksa olumsuz mu olduğudur. Bu çalışma, Muş ilinde kadının temsili konusunun yerel basın üzerinden incelendiği ilk akademik araştırma olması nedeniyle önem arz etmektedir. Elde edilen bulgular, Muş yerel basınında cinsiyet eşitliği açısından ciddi bir görünürlük açığı olduğunu ve söz konusu kadın olduğunda daha dengeli, çok boyutlu bir temsile ihtiyaç duyulduğunu göstermiştir. Araştırma sonucunda Şark Haber gazetesinde kadın temsilinin güçlendirilmesine yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.

The local press is an important medium that expresses the problems and wishes of people living within certain limits and supervises the administration on behalf of the people. Despite difficult conditions, the local press addresses many important social issues that the national press overlooks, demonstrating great dedication. This sensitive and responsible approach is also evident in relation to the recent rise in gender discrimination. This is because the issue must be treated not merely as a concern for women, but as a shared concern for the whole of society, and must be examined in depth. The primary aim of this research is to determine the extent to which women are represented in the local press in Muş. The study will also provide valuable data regarding the frequency with which women appear in the local press. To this end, the province of Muş has been selected as the sample for this research. As the only daily newspaper published in Muş, the Şark Haber newspaper forms the sample for this study. Thus, the examination of the local press’s coverage of women’s representation has been systematically addressed through the province’s sole periodical. To reveal how and how frequently the newspaper addressed women’s issues during routine periods, the research dates were selected from a routine timeframe; these time periods were set as 1 April 2025 to 31 May 2025. News items on women’s issues published during this two-month period were analysed using content analysis. This study has revealed the local press’s perspective on women-themed news stories, the manner in which these stories are conveyed to the public, and how the local press constructs these stories. The core research questions concern how the newspaper positions women within the news, on which pages they are featured, and whether the tone of the reporting is positive or negative. This study is significant as it is the first academic research to examine the representation of women in Muş Province through the lens of the local press. The findings indicate that there was a serious gap in terms of gender equality in the Muş local press and that a more balanced, multidimensional representation was neededwhen it came to women. As a result of the research, recommendations have been put forward to strengthen the representation of women in the Şark Haber newspaper.
