MALAYSIA’S SOUTH CHINA SEA STRATEGY AND MAHATHIR DOCTRINE

Abstract

This study focuses on the South China Sea which is one
of the hottest areas of conflict in the world, and examines the Mahathir
doctrine created by Malaysia for the peaceful resolution of conflicts in this
region. For this purpose, from general to special metod was followed in this
study. First The South China Sea region was identified, and then the causes and
sides of the conflict in the region were addressed. Finally, the scope of the
Mahathir doctrine was explained. The likely development of this doctrine, which
is a preventive solution to the potential of conflict in the region, in the
light of current developments, is discussed in the conclusion section. The
supporting policies of Malaysia in this direction are also included in the same
section.

MALEZYA’NIN GÜNEY ÇİN DENİZİ STRATEJİSİ VE MAHATHiR DOKTRİNİ

Abstract

Bu çalışma, dünya üzerindeki sıcak çatışma alanlarından biri
olan Güney Çin Denizi’ne odaklanmakta ve Malezya tarafından bu bölgedeki
ihtilafların barışçıl yoldan çözümüne yönelik oluşturulan Mahathir Doktrini’ni
incelemektedir. Bu amaçla genelden özele doğru bir seyir izlenen çalışmada
öncellikle Güney Çin Denizi olarak nitelenen coğrafi bölge tanımlanmış,
ardından bölgedeki ihtilafın nedenlerine ve taraflarına değinilmiş ve son
olarak Mahathir Doktrini’ nin kapsamı açıklanmıştır. Bölgedeki çatışma
potansiyellerine getirilen önleyici bir çözüm olan bu doktrinin güncel
gelişmeler ışığındaki muhtemel gelişimi sonuç kısmında ele alınmış, Malezya’nın
bu doğrultudaki destekleyici politikalarına yine aynı kısımda yer verilmiştir.
