Abstract

Arteriovenöz malformasyonlar (AVM) nadir görülen konjenital anomalilerdir. Arter ve ven arasında kapiller yapı olmadan direk bağlantı bulunması ile meydana gelir. Tedavi edilmediği takdirde kalp yetmezliğine kadar giden semptomlara neden olabilir. Bu olgu sunumunda sol üst ekstiremitede konjenital AVM’si olan 10 yaşında erkek hasta takdim edildi. Hastanın son üç aydır çarpıntı ve nefes darlığı şikâyetleri mevcuttu. Radial arterle derin ven arasındaki geniş şant, derin venin içinden primer kapatılarak tedavi edildi. AVM tedavisi için endovasküler ya da cerrahi tedavi seçenekleri bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, AVM tedavi yöntemi seçiminde nelere dikkat edilmesi gerektiğini sunmak amaçlanmıştır.

Surgical Treatment of High Flow Congenital Arteriovenous Malformation in the Upper Extremity: A Case Report

Abstract

Arteriovenous malformations (AVM) are rare congenital anomalies. It occurs when there is a direct connection between the artery and vein without a capillary structure. If left untreated, it can cause symptoms leading to heart failure. In this case report, a 10-year-old male patient with congenital AVM in the left upper extremity was presented. He had palpitation and dyspnea for the last three months. The wide shunt between the radial artery and the deep vein was treated by primary closure through the deep vein. Endovascular or surgical treatment methods are available for AVM treatment. In this study, it was aimed to contribute to what should be considered when choosing treatment method.
