Bruksizm Tanı ve Tedavisinde Güncel Yaklaşımlar

Abstract

Bruksizm uykuda ve uyanıkken meydana gelen diş sıkma ve/veya gıcırdatması olarak tanımlanan yaygın parafonksiyonel bir alışkanlıktır. Toplumda görülme sıklığı ortalama % 20 olarak belirtilmektedir. Etiyolojisi tam olarak bilinmemekle birlikte multifaktöriyel olduğu konusunda görüş birliği vardır. Diş gıcırdatma periyodları kısa aralıklarda olmasına rağmen çiğneme sisteminde ciddi problemlere neden olabilmektedir. Bruksizm sonucu temporomandibular rahatsızlıklar, baş ağrısı, dişlerde aşınma, hassasiyet ve mobilite gibi problemler görülebilmektedir. Yıllar içinde bruksizmi durdurmak için protetik tedavilerde dahil olmak üzere bir çok tedavi yöntemi denenmiştir ancak özel bir tedavi yöntemi yoktur. Bruksizim için çeşitli tedavi yöntemleri denenmekle birlikte yaygın olarak oklüzal plaklar kullanılmaktadır. Bu metinde bruksizmin etiyolojisi, sistemik ve lokal etkileri ve tedavisi hakkında bilgi verilmiştir
