Abstract

We aimed to investigate the role of prostate originated obstructions in inguinal hernia aetiology by identifying prostatism incidance of the inguinal hernia patients. 223 patients with inguinal hernia and lower urinary system symptoms between 2008-2010 years were involved in this study. Age, identified urinary pathology and the clinical approach for this pathology was evaluated. Urinary pathology was detected in 53% of the patients. 35% of these patients were diagnosed as benign prostatic hyperplasia and 6,3% of these patients were diagnosed as prostate cancer. Lower urinary system obstruction due to prostatism could cause hearniation from the weak abdominal wall and could participate both inguinal hearnia development and recurrence. As a result we concluded that preoperative urinary evaluation of the patients that scheluded for inguinal hernia repair is extremely important.

İnguinal Herni-Prostatizm Birlikteliklerine Güncel Yaklaşım

Abstract

İntraabdominal basınç artışına yol açan prostat hipertrofisinin varlığı ve yaşlanmayla beraber dokulardaki zayıflama inguinal herni etyolojisinde yer alan ve iyi bilinen faktörlerdir. Bu çalışmada inguinal herni tanısı almış hastalarda prostatizm insidansını belirleyerek, inguinal herni etyolojisinde prostat kaynaklı obstrüksiyonların katkısını incelemeyi amaçladık. 2007-2010 yılları arasında inguinal herni tanısı alan ve alt üriner sistem semptomları olan 223 hasta çalışmaya dâhil edildi. Yaş, tespit edilen ürolojik patoloji ve bu patolojiye yönelik yapılan girişimler değerlendirildi. İncelenen 223 hastanın %53’ünde ürolojik patoloji tespit edilmezken, %35,4’ünde beningn prostat hipertrofisi, %6,3’ünde prostat kanseri tanısı kondu. Prostatizme bağlı alt üriner sistem obstrüksiyonunun varlığı hem inguinal herni etyolojisinde hem de rekürrensinde önemli bir faktör olabilmektedir. İnguinal herni tanısıyla operasyonu planlanan olgularda preoperatif ürolojik değerlendirmenin son derece önemli olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır.
