MEVSİM FARKLILIKLARININ KATARAKT CERRAHİSİNİN SONUÇLARINA ETKİLERİ

Year 2016, , 1 - 5, 30.04.2016
https://doi.org/10.24938/kutfd.252662

Abstract

Bunlardan 46'sı yaz, 45'i kış döneminde
ameliyat olmuşlardı. Yaz döneminde ortalama yaş:
65.88±14,0 kış döneminde
67.95±9,2 olarak bulundu. Yaş ortalamaları açısından gruplar arasında fark
yoktu.

Abstract

Introduction: Cataract is the leading cause of
blindness in the world. Cataract surgery represents one of the most common and
reliable forms of surgery in ophthalmology. The aim of this study was to
evaluate the results of cataract surgeries performed in difference seasons.

Materials and Methods: Patients, underwent uneventful
phacoemulsification surgery between the 2014-2015 in Kirikkale University
Faculty of Medicine Department of Ophthalmology clinics were assessed
retrospectively. Subjects were divided, into 2 groups according
to period of surgery
(summer or winter) The age,
gender, laterality, preoperative and postoperative 1st month best
corrected visual acuity, intraocular pressure were compared.

Results: 91 patients were included in the
study. The mean age was 66.93 ± 1,1. Of these, 46 were operated on the summer,
45 were operated during the winter. For summer group average age were 65.88 ±
14,0 and for winter group average age were 67.95 ± 9,2. There was no statistical difference between the groups in terms of age
(p>0.05). However there was statistical significant
difference between the groups of best corrected visual acuity preoperatively (p
<0.05). There was no statistical significant
difference between the groups on postoperative best corrected visual acuity and
intraocular pressure levels.

Conclusion: Seasonal differences has no effect on
the results of the cataract surgery However, preoperative best corrected visual
acuity of operated cataract patients were lower in winter than summer.
