A Rare Appendiceal Anomaly: Agenesis of the Vermiform Appendix

Abstract

Agenesis of the appendix vermiformis is quite rare. Its incidence is approximately 1 in 100.000 cases and is a condition that is encountered incidentally in cases suspected to be appendicitis. Here, a case of a 24 year-old woman with agenesis of appendix vermiformis who was taken to the operating room with the diagnosis of acute abdomen is presented.

APENDİKSİN NADİR BİR ANOMALİSİ: APENDİKS VERMİFORMİS AGENEZİSİ

Abstract

Apendiks vermiformis agenezisi oldukça nadirdir. Apandisit açısından kuşkulanılan vakalarda tesadüfi olarak bulunan, sıklığı yaklaşık 1/100.000 olan bir durumdur. Bu yazıda, akut karın tanısı ile operasyona alınan 24 yaşında kadın hastada, apendiks vermiformis agenezisi olgusu sunuldu.
