Abstract

Incidental Calcifying Fibrous Tumor: A Case Report

Year 2021, Volume: 23 Issue: 1, 186 - 190, 30.04.2021

Abstract

Calcifying fibrous tumor is a rare spindle cell tumor. Despite the fact that it is usually detected incidentally, clinical presentation differs according to the region of involvement when it is symptomatic. Calcifying fibrous tumor shows intra-abdominal region, soft tissue and pleural predilection and is frequently seen in children and young adults. It has specific histopathological features, including paucicellular fibrocollagenous stroma, lymphoplasmocytic aggregates and lymphoid follicles, dystrophic and / or psammomatous calcification. Few spindle cells in pauci cellular stroma are immunoreactive for Vimentin and Factor XIIIa. Here in, we aimed to present the case of incidental mesenteric calcifying fibrous tumor with a literature review, as it is a rare entity and can mimic benign and malignant lesions clinicopathologically.
