Abstract

Sosyalistler, ilerlemeciler ve siyasal solun benzer sâkinleri (denizen) merhametli oluşlarıyla övünmeyi severler. Bunun kendilerini sağdaki ‘zâlim’ politikacılardan ayırdığını ve onlara bütün siyasal tartışmalarda yüksek bir ahlâkî konum kazandırdığını düşünürler. Kapitalistler çocukların açlıktan ölmesine göz yumarlarken, sosyalistler fakir çocukları doyurmak ister. İlerlemeci politikacılar, hastaları rahat ettirmek ister; onların reaksiyoner emsâlleri ise hastaların ıstırap çekmesini seyredecektir. Solcular zulümle savaşmak ister; onların sağdaki hasımları ise zulmün araçlarıdır. Ve böyle devam eder gider. Bunların hepsini daha önceden işitmişsinizdir; bunlar bildik nakaratlardır– tartışmayı solcuların programlarının daha iyi olduğu temelinde değil, fakat motivasyonlarının daha hâlis olduğu temelinde kazanmaya yönelik bir teşebbüs.
