Kekik Uçucu Yağı Bileşenlerinden Timol, Karvakrol ve Alfa-Terpinen’in Yabani Yulaf Üzerine Allelopatik Etkileri

Abstract

Yabancı otlar tarımsal üretimde ürün ve kalite kaybına neden olmaktadır. Yabancı ot kontrolü için kullanılan ilaçların çoğu sentetik kimyasallardan elde edilmektedir. Gelişen teknoloji, bitkiler için zararlı olan kimyasalların kullanımı yerine doğal bitkisel materyallerin kullanımı üzerine araştırmaları artırmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, kekik uçucu yağı bileşenlerinin buğday tarlalarından elde edilen yabani yulaf tohumlarının çimlenmesi ve çim bitkisinin kök uzunluğu üzerindeki allelopatik etkileri araştırılmıştır. Bu amaçla, alfa-terpinen, karvakrol ve timol farklı dozlarda (0, 2, 5, 10 ve 20 μL/Petri kabı) uygulanarak yabani yulaf tohumlarının çimlenme oranı, çim bitkilerinin kök uzunluğu üzerine etkileri araştırılmıştır. Karşılaştırma sonucunda, karvakrol ve timol’ün tohumlarının çimlenme oranı ve çim bitkilerinin kök uzunluğu üzerine etkileri olumsuz ve istatistiksel olarak anlamlı bir düzeyde (P<0.01) iken, alfa-terpinen’in etkisi istatistiksel olarak önemsiz (P>0.05) bulunuştur. Bu sonuç, araştırmada kullanılan biyo-kimyasalların kışlık bitkilerde yabani yulaf kontrolü için biyo-herbisit olarak kullanılabilme potansiyeline sahip olduğunu düşündürmektedir. Ancak, bu biyo-kimyasallar biyo-herbisit olarak kullanmak için, kışlık bitkiler üzerine etkileri de araştırılmalıdır.

Allelopathic Effects of Thymol, Carvacrol and Alpha-Terpinene, which are Components of Thyme Essential Oil, on Wild Oats

Abstract

Weeds cause the loss of crops and quality in agricultural production. Most of the herbicides used to weed control are derived from synthetic chemicals. Evolving technology is increasing research on the use of natural plant materials. In this study, the allelopathic effects of thyme essential oil components on the seed germination and seedling root length of some wild oat obtained from wheat fields were investigated. For this purpose, the effects of alpha-terpinene, carvacrol, thymol at different doses (0, 2, 5, 10 and 20 μL/Petri dish) on the seed germination rate of seedling root length of wild oat were investigated. As a result of the comparison, While the negative effects of carvacrol, thymol on the seed germination of weed seed and seedling root length were statistically significant (P<0.01), α-terpinene was not statistically significant (P>0.05). This result suggests that bio-chemicals used in the research could be used as bio-herbicides to control of wild oat in winter crops. However, to use these bio-chemicals as bio-herbicides, their effects on winter cops must be investigated.
