Performance Measurement in Small and Medium Enterprises: Family Farming Application

Abstract

Malnutrition is a growing concern in cities in all its forms. On the other hand, the current agricultural system, which is carried out depending on natural conditions, threatens food security due to increasing natural disasters due to climate change in the world. Agricultural lands are an important natural resource and are also an important element for the future of humanity, food production and food security. For this reason, many studies have been carried out in recent years towards the sustainability of production. One of the important concepts that secure access to food and address issues such as adaptation to climate change and protection of biodiversity is agricultural ecology. Agricultural ecology consists of short supply chain and ecological farming practices. For this reason, in our study, the performance of enterprises conducting ecological farming activities focusing on sustainable production in an increasingly competitive environment was evaluated. In our study, the concepts related to the subject were explained first under the conceptual framework title. In the performance evaluation, the key performance indicators of the SCOR model were weighted with the SWARA method by obtaining expert opinions. After the application, it was revealed that small family farmers primarily experienced difficulties in asset management and that improvements were needed in this regard.

Küçük ve Orta Ölçekli İşletmelerde Performans Ölçümü: Aile Çiftçiliği Uygulaması

Abstract

Kötü beslenme, tüm biçimleriyle şehirlerde büyüyen bir endişedir. Öte yandan doğal koşullara bağlı olarak yürütülen mevcut tarım sistemi dünyadaki iklim değişikliğine bağlı olarak artan doğa afetler nedeniyle gıda güvencesini tehdit etmektedir. Tarım toprakları önemli bir doğal kaynak olmakla birlikte insanlığın geleceği, gıda üretimi ve gıda güvencesi için de önemli bir unsurdur. Bu sebeple son yıllarda üretimin sürdürülebilirliği yönünde birçok çalışma yapılmaktadır. Gıdaya erişimi güvence altına alan ve iklim değişikliğine uyum sağlama ve biyolojik çeşitliliğin korunması gibi konuları ele alan önemli kavramlardan biri de tarımsal ekolojidir. Tarımsal ekoloji kısa tedarik zinciri ve ekolojik çiftçilik uygulamalarında oluşmaktadır. Bu sebeple çalışmamızda giderek artan rekabet ortamında sürdürülebilir üretime odaklanan ekolojik çiftçilik faaliyeti yürüten işletmelerin performans değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. Çalışmamızda öncelikle kavramsal çerçeve başlığında konuya ilişkin kavramlar açıklanmıştır. Performans değerlendirmesinde ise SCOR modelin anahtar performans göstergeleri uzman görüşleri alınarak SWARA yöntemi ile ağırlıklandırılmıştır. Uygulama sonrası küçük aile çiftçilerinin öncelikle varlık yönetimi konusunda zorluklar yaşadığı ve bu konuda iyileştirmeye ihtiyaç duyulduğu ortaya çıkmıştır.
