Production of Boric Acid from Colemanite by Stirred and Column Bioleaching Methods

Abstract

In this study, stirred and column bioleaching methods were used for colemanite taken from Eti Maden
Emet Boron Work. Pure Aspergillus Niger, used in bioleaching, obtained from Biology Department
of Cukurova University. The dissolution yields of different solid rates were examined in the stirred
bioleaching experiments and the column bioleaching experiments were made at 5% solids rate for 39
weeks. B2O3 dissolution yields, obtained from the results of experiments, were compared. According
to the results of the experimental work, the stirred bioleaching dissolution yield was 90.18% and the
column bioleaching dissolution yield was 70.02%.

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Eti Maden Emet Bor İşletmesinden temin edilen kolemanit numunesine karıştırmalı
ve kolon biyoliçi yöntemleri uygulanmıştır. Biyoliç deneylerinde Çukurova Üniversitesi Biyoloji
Bölümünden saf olarak temin edilen Aspergillus Niger kullanılmıştır. Karıştırmalı biyoliç deneylerinde
farklı katı oranlarındaki çözünme verimleri irdelenmiş, Kolon biyoliçi deneylerinde ise %5 katı oranında
39 haftalık kolon liçi yapılmıştır. Yapılan deneyler sonucunda elde edilen B2O3 çözünme verimleri
karşılaştırılmıştır. Buna göre karıştırmalı biyoliçi çözünme verimi %90,18 iken kolon biyoliçi çözünme
verimi ise %70,02 olarak tespit edilmiştir.
