Beneficiation of Barite Ore From Kuyucak Region by Flotation

Abstract

Depending on the results of contact angle measurements and FTIR spectra analyses of handpicked
pure barite sample from Kuyucak region, the mechanical flotation experiments were carried out
with raw barite ore. An acceptable floatability was obtained by using the anionic collector Aero 730,
which was chemically adsorbed on barite surface. As a result of systematical flotation experiments,
the optimum values of physical and chemical parameters (pH, airflow rate, types and amounts of
depressant, collector and frother) affecting the flotation were determined. Flotation of the ore was
produced a barite concentrate assaying 92,59% BaSO4
under optimum flotation conditions. Otherwise,
several flotation tests were carried out to determine the effect of particle size on flotation performance
with -75+53 µm, -53+38 µm and -38 µm particle size samples under optimum flotation conditions and
the relation between particle size and the quality of concentrate were investigated.

Abstract

Kuyucak yöresinden elle toplanan saf barit numunesinin temas açısı ölçümü ve FTIR spektrometri
analiz sonuçlarına bağlı olarak ham barit cevheri üzerinde mekanik flotasyon deneyleri yapılmıştır.
Barit yüzeyine kimyasal adsorblandığı belirlenen anyonik tip Aero 730 toplayıcısı ile kabul edilebilir
seviyede bir hidrofobiklik elde edilebildiği belirlenmiştir. Sistematik flotasyon deneyleri sonucunda,
flotasyona etki eden fiziksel ve kimyasal değişkenlerin (pH, hava akış hızı, bastırıcı, toplayıcı ve
köpürtücü türü ve miktarı) optimum değerleri bulunmuştur. Optimum flotasyon şartlarında yapılan
flotasyon deneyinde % 92,59 BaSO4 içeren bir konsantre üretimi mümkün olmuştur. Ayrıca flotasyon
verimine tane boyutunun etkisini belirlemek için 75+53 µm, -53+38 µm ve -38 µm tane boyutundaki
örneklerle optimum flotasyon koşullarında flotasyon deneyleri yapılmış ve tane boyutu ile konsantre
kalitesi arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir.
