The Use of Na-Oleate with metal salts as a Collector in K-Feldspar Quartz Flotation

Abstract

in this study the possibility of usage of the metal ions (Al+3, Ba+2, Mg+2, Pb+2 and Sn+2) in the selective
oleate flotation of K-feldspar from quartz by zeta potential measurements and flotation tests. Zeta
potential measurements showed that, within the pH range studied, the surface charges of quartz and Kfeldspar
were almost same. However, a slight difference was observed on the surface charges of both
minerals when oleate was used after conditioning with lead ions.
Laboratory flotation tests using Na-oleate and metal salts were also carried out to separate feldspar
from quartz. Flotation tests verified that there was a selective oleate adsorption to the K-feldspar
surface in the presence of lead ions

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, zeta potansiyel ölçümleri ve flotasyon testleri yapılarak oleatla seçimli feldispat kuvars
flotasyonunda metal iyonlarının (Al+3, Ba+2, Mg+2, Pb+2 and Sn+2) kullanılabilirliği araştırılmıştır. Zeta
potansiyel ölçümleri çalışılan pH aralığında, kuvars ve feldispatın yüzey yüklerinin hemen hemen-aynı
olduğunu göstermektedir. Buna rağmen kurşun ve oleatın birlikte kullanıldığı ölçümlerde bu iki
mineralin zeta potansiyelleri arasında bir farklılık gözlenebilmiştir.
Laboratuvarda potasyum feldispat ve kuvarsı ayırmak için flotasyon testleri yapılmıştır. Bu testler
feldispatın kurşun ve oleat varlığında flotasyonla seçimli olarak ayrılabileceğini göstermiştir.
