An Investigation Into the Effect of Plastic Water Stemming Cartridges (PWSC) on Blasting Efficiency and Blasted-Fragmentation Distribution

Abstract

A comprehensive research program has been carried out to determine the effect of plastic water
stemming cartridges (PWSC), used for underground blasting operations, on mine environment and
worker's health, blasting performance and economy. This paper presents the effect of stemming
and different stemming types on the particle size distribution of blasted rock, hence the
performance of blasting. For this purpose, the images of the blasted rock were digitized and
particle size distribution analyses were carried out on a comparative basis. Especially, it is aimed
to present the relationship between particle size distribution in case of using clay and PWSC
comparatively.7
In addition to positive effects of the use of PWSC in terms of workers health, dust and gas
concentrations, it is found to increase also eficiency and performance of blasting operations.

Abstract

Yeraltı patlatma işlemlerinde kullanılan plastik sulu sıkılama kartuşlarının (PSSK) ocak
atmosferine, patlatma^ performans ve ekonomisine olan etkilerinin belirlenmesi için kapsamlı bir
çalışma yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, sıkılamanın ve sıkılama yöntemlerinin parça-boyut dağılımı ve
dolayısıyla patlatma performansı üzerindeki etkisinden bahsedilmektedir. Bu amaçla,
karşılaştırmalı olarak farklı sıkılama uygulamalarında, ateşleme sonrası alınan pasa yığını
görüntüleri üzerinde sayısallaştırma işlemleri ile parça-boyut analizleri yürütülmüştür. Özellikle
de PSSK ve kil sıkılaması kullanımında patlatma performansı ve parça-boyut dağılımına olan
etkilerinin karşılaştırmalı olarak sunulması hedeflenmiştir.
PSSK ile sıkılamanın; işçi sağlığı ve ocak atmosferine olan olumlu etkilerinin yanısıra parça boyut
dağılımına olan etkileri, patlatma performansı ve patlatma verimi açısından da olumlu sonuçlar
vermiştir.
