A Comparative Study of Ovacık Gold Ore with Thiourea and Cyanide Leaching

Abstract

Precious metals such as gold and silver have been recovered from their ores by cyanide for over a hundred years mainly due to its unique property in exploiting the low grade invisible gold with high recovery, being industrially proven process and its well-known chemical mechanism. However, its toxicity and slow extraction rate have stimulated research to look for alternative reagents. Thiourea is one of the most promising lixiviant, which has been investigated extensively due to fast leaching kinetics and non-toxic features. In this study, leaching kinetics of Ovacık gold ore was investigated and major parameters were determined using both cyanide and thiourea. The dissolution of gold was discussed in terms of extraction rates and reagent consumption

OVACIK ALTIN CEVHERİNİN KARŞILAŞTIRMALI SİYANÜR VE TİYOÜRE LİÇİ

Abstract

Siyanür liçi ile cevherlerden altın ve gümüşün kazanılması, yüz yılı aşan bir süreden ben basan ile uygulanmaktadır. Bunun nedeni siyanür prosesinin kimyasal mekanizmasının iyi bilinmesi, çok ince taneli ve fakir cevherlere bile yüksek verimle uygulanabilme kabiliyetidir. Bununla birlikte siyanürün zehirli bir madde olması ve düşük çözündürme hızına sahip bulunması alternatif çözücülerin araştırılmasına sebebiyet vermiştir. Bunlardan tiyoüre, gerek hızlı liç kinetiği göstermesi ve gerekse zehirsiz bir madde olmasından dolayı, çok yönlü olarak araştırılmıŞtir. Bu çalışmada, Ovacık Altın Cevheri' nin optimum siyanür ve tiyoüre liç parametreleri öncelikle tesbit edilmiş olup, her iki proses altın ve gümüş kazanma verimleri ve reaktif sarfiyatı bazında karşılaştınlmıştır
