Investigation of Flotation Possibilities of The Jig and First Flotation Tailings of The Balikesir-Balya Lead Mine's Old Processing Plant

Abstract

The jig and first flotation tailings of the old processing plant of Balya Lead Mine
contain 6.0% Pb, 7.0% Zn and 10.5% Fe, and 7.05% Pb, 9.7% Zn and 12.8% respectively.
The main valuable minerals found in both tailings are galena, sphalerite and
pyrite as sulfide minerals; lead oxide, carbonate and sulphate, and zinc oxide as oxide
minerals.
In the laboratory studies, flotation tests were performed to float Pb and Zn selectively
on the one hand and on the other hand, the adequate flotation canditions to
obtain a bulk Pb and Zn concentrate were also investigated. In the flotation tests,
the oxide lead minerals were tried to be floated by sulfidizing the surfaces.

Abstract

Balya Kurşun Sahası'nda bulunan eski işletme artıklarından jig artıkları % 6.0 Pb,
% 7.0 Zn ve % 103 Fe, birinci flotasyon artıkları ise % 7.05 Pb, % 9.7 Zn ve % 12.8
Fe içermektedir. Artıklarda genel olarak sülfiirlü minerallerden galen, sfalerit ve pirit,
oksitli minerallerden kurşun oksit, karbonat ve sülfatlar ile çinko oksitler bulunmaktadır.

Değerlendirme çalışmalarında öncelikle seçimli kurşun ve çinko yüzdürmesi üzerinde
durulmuş, bunun yanında uygun toplu yüzdürme koşulları da araştırılmıştır. Ayrı­
ca oksitli kurşun mineralleri sülfürlenerek kazanılmaya çalışılmıştır.
