Abstract
Turkey is one of the leading countries in the world as regards to boron reserves.
However, the production leven and variety of products are very low compared with
potential owned. As the consumption in domestic market is limited, the greatest part
of boron minerals and chemicals produced in Turkey have to be exported creating
marketing problems.
The aim of this study is to give a fairly complete outlook to boron industry in the
world. To achieve this, first the history, minerals and chemicals of boron have been
outlined. Important boron deposits worldwide and their occurances have then been
mentioned. The producers in different countries and production and consumption
of boron have been given to emphasize the importance of boron world-wide as well
as Turkey.

Türkiye sahip olduğu bor rezervleri ve cevherlerinin kalitesi ile dünyanın en önde
gelen ülkesidir. Buna rağmen üretim seviyesi ürünlerinin çeşitliliği ve yapılan dış satış
lar sahip olunan potansiyel yanında çok düşük ve büyük oranda cevher üzerinedir.
Bu çalışmada bor mineralleri, bileşikleri, yatakları ve oluşumları anlatılmış, dünyada
ve özellikle Türkiye'deki üretim teknolojisinden kısaca bahsedilmiş ve tesislerden
örnekler verilmiştir. Borat üretimi, tüketimi ve kullanım alanlarına değinilerek borun
önemi vurgulanmaya çalışılmıştır.
