The Required Properties of the Quartz Sands for Glass Making and Their Beneficiation Methods and a Case Study of Yozgat Sarıkaya Quartzites
Abstract
In line with the development of our country's glass industry, the usage of the raw
materials has been increased immensely. In this paper, the required chemical, physical
and mineralogical properties of quartz (silica) sands for the glass making industry,
along with beneficiation methods are reviewed. A case study concerning the properties
of Yozgat-Sarikaya quartzite is presented. As a result, Yozgat-Sarıkaya quartzite is
found unsuitable for the industry.

Ülkemizde cam sanayiinin gelişmesiyle birlikte bu alanda kullanılan hammaddelerin
tüketimi de büyük ölçüde artmıştır.
Bu yazıda, cam sanayiinde hammadde olarak kullanılan kuvars (silika) kumlarında
aranan kimyasal, fiziksel ve mineralojik özelliklerden söz edilerek bunların zenginleş
tirilmesi yöntemleri ele alınmıştır. Derlenen bilgiler ışığında Yozgat-Sarıkaya kuvarsitleri
incelenmiş ve cam üretiminde kullanılamayacağı saptanmıştır.
