The Role of Rib Pillars Left Betwen the Roadway and Adjacent Workings in the Stability of Gate Roadw

Abstract

As rib pillars play a great part in the stability of gate roadways it is often customary
to leave o solid pillar of a sufficient width between the roadway and adjacent
workings in longwall layouts. This system, however, results in sterilising
large coal reserves and consequently achieving a lower percentage extraction. One
alternative to gain the otherwise left behind reserves is to leave a very narrow
rib pillar against old adjoining workings and to provide a strong ribside to support
the roadway.
From this consideration an investigation was carried out at Cotgravc Colliery,
South Nottinghamshire in England where a maingate of a face was separated from
an old working by a 2-7 m wide rib pillar. To study the effects of such a pillar on
the stability of the roadway several instrumentations were applied and the results
obtained from this investigation are presented and discussed in detail in this paper.
Theoretical consideration is also included regarding pack loading.

Abstract

Daha çok kömür işletmelerinde uygulanan uzunayak panolarında çalışılmakta
olan iki komşu pano arasında emniyet topukları bırakılması büyük rezerv kayıplarına
yol açmaktadır. Oysa, taban yolu tahkimatının güçlendirilmesi sureti ile dar
topuk uygulaması da bazı durumlarda panonun stabilizasyonu açısından istenilen
sonuçları verebilir. Bu konunun etüdü amacı ile İngiltere - Güney Nottinghamshire
Bölgesi - Cotgrave Kömür Ocağı'nda, kalınlığı 2 - 7 m olan çok dar bir topuğun
bitişiğinde ilerletilmiş olan bir taban yolunda bir dizi araştırma çalışması yapılmış
ve elde edilen sonuçlar bu yazıda sunulmuştur. Sonuçlar, bir takım tahk.mat
özelliklerine dikkat edilmesi durumunda, dar topuk sisteminin uzunayak panolarında
büyük çapta uygulanabilirliği görüşünü getirmiştir
