Radial Permeability and Gas Emission Properties of Kozlu District Coals, Zonguldak Coalfield

Abstract

This research was primarily concerned with determining the radial permeabilities
of coal samples taken from Kozlu district, Zonguldak coalfield. Radial
permeabilities of these coal samples were determined both by flow measurements
and simulating the pressure build-up tests in laboratory conditions. During the
permeability measurements, flow was created in radial direction, perpendicular
the bedding planes. This was achieved by preparing the cores parallel to the
bedding planes. Gas pressure-permeability relationships for the coals tested were
also studied. In these measurements, methane pressures were increased up to 4
MN/m2
and the results obtained from these tests were discussed. Together with
these, the emission properties of the mentioned coal seams were investigated
both experimentally and theoretically using Airey's Emission Theory and comparisons
between these two were made. The effect of stress and failure on the radial
permeability of coal together with the effect of gas pressure-history were also
considered.

Abstract

Bu araştırma başlıca Zonguldak havzası — Kozlu bölgesinden alınan kömür
numunelerinin radyal geçirgenliklerinin belirlenmesi ile ilgilidir. Kömür numunelerinin
radyal geçirgenlikleri; akış ölçümleri ve basınç yükselme testlerinin laboratuvar
koşullarında modellenmesiyle belirlenmiştir. Geçirgenlik ölçmelerinde
akış tabakalanma düzlemlerine dik olarak, radyal yönde oluşturulmuştur. Bu,
karotların tabakalanma düzlemlerine paralel olarak alınmasıyla elde edilmiştir.
Denenen kömür numuneleri için, gaz basıncı - geçirgenlik ilişkileri de incelenmiş­
tir. Bu çalışmalarda metan basıncı 4 MN/m2
'ye kadar artırılmış ve deneylerden
elde edilen sonuçlar tartışılmıştır. Bunun yanısıra, sözü edilen kömür damarları­
nın emisyon özellikleri deneysel ve Airey'nin Emisyon Teorisi kullanılarak teorik
olarak incelenmiş, ikisi arasında karşılaştırmalar yapılmıştır. Kömürlerin radyal
geçirgenliğine gerilme ve yenilmenin etkileri, gaz basıncı-geçmişinin etkileri ile
birlikte araştırılmıştır.
