Abstract
Bu araştırma ile ilköğretim 6. sınıf matematik dersine ilişkin “kesirler” konusunun öğretiminde 4MAT
öğrenme stili modelinin akademik başarı ve kalıcılığa etkisinin incelenmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Araştırmada
deneysel yönteme dayalı, kontrollü ön-test ve son-test modeli kullanılmıştır. Deney grubuna 4MAT öğrenme stili
modeline uygun öğrenme-öğretme etkinlikleri düzenlenmiştir. Kontrol grubuna ise geleneksel öğretime uygun
etkinlikler düzenlenmiştir. Bu araştırma, 2007-2008 eğitim-öğretim yılının 2. yarıyılında Ankara ilinde MEB’e
bağlı bir ilköğretim okulunda yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu; deney grubunda 29 ve kontrol
grubunda 29 öğrenci olmak üzere, toplam 58 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. 25 maddelik başarı testi, gruplara
öğretimleri öncesinde ön-test, 8 ders saatlik öğretim sonrasında son-test, son-testten 1 ay sonra ise kalıcılık testi
olarak uygulanmıştır. 4MAT öğrenme stili modeline dayalı öğretim gören deney grubunun akademik başarısının,
geleneksel öğretim gören kontrol grubunun akademik başarısından daha fazla arttığı görülmüştür. Kalıcılık
üzerinde, 4MAT öğrenme stili modeline dayalı öğretimin geleneksel öğretime göre daha etkili olduğu ortaya
çıkmıştır.
The Effect Of 4MAT Learning Style Model On Academic Achievement And Permanence While Teaching “Fractions”
Abstract
This research aims to determine the effect of 4MAT learning style model academic achievement and permanence while teaching “fractions” in Mathematics at elementary schools 6th grade. Controlled pre-test and post-test model was used based on the experimental method in the research. For the experimental group learning and teaching activities related to 4MAT learning style model is arranged. On the other hand, for the control group the arranged activities are designed according to traditional education. This research is conducted in a primary school affiliated to ministry of education in the second semester of 2007-2008 academic year in Ankara. The study group is composed of 58 students, 29 of which are in experimental group and 29 of which are in control group. 25 item-achievement test was applied to the groups as pre-test before teachings, post-test after 8- hours teaching and permanence-test 1 month later after post-test. It was revealed that the academic achievement of the experimental group taught based on 4MAT learning style model increased much more than the control group taught in a traditional way. On permanence, it was revealed that 4MAT learning style model is more effective than traditional teaching.
