Our journal will publish a special issue featuring selected studies derived from papers presented at the 4th International 21st Century Educational Research Congress (INER CONGRESS 2026), which will be organized by the Faculty of Education of Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy University in Burdur on May 7–9, 2026.

Scope and Purpose of the Special Issue
The main theme of INER CONGRESS 2026 has been determined as “Artificial Intelligence and Education: Designing the Learning Ecosystems of the Future.” This special issue aims to bring together studies that address, from a scientific perspective, the effects of artificial intelligence and generative artificial intelligence-based transformations on educational theory, practices, teacher education, learning environments, assessment and evaluation processes, and educational policies.
Within this scope, it is envisaged that papers presented in full text at the congress will be transformed into journal article format in accordance with the publication policy and author guidelines of our journal and submitted for evaluation in this special issue.
Submission and Review Process
- Only papers that were presented in full text at INER CONGRESS 2026 and accepted by the congress scientific committee will be eligible to apply for the special issue.
- The papers must be uploaded to the journal system after the congress in an expanded, further developed, and article-ready form.
- All manuscripts submitted to the special issue will be subject to the standard peer-review process of the Journal of Mehmet Akif Ersoy University Faculty of Education.
- Each manuscript will be evaluated by at least two expert reviewers within the framework of the double-blind peer-review process, and revisions may be requested from the authors when deemed necessary.
- Studies found suitable following the peer-review process will be accepted for publication as journal articles. Presentation at the congress does not guarantee publication.
Ethics Committee Approval and Research Permissions
- For studies involving human participants (e.g., surveys, scales, interviews, focus groups, observations, experimental/quasi-experimental applications, etc.) and studies containing personal data, obtaining ethics committee approval and/or the necessary institutional permissions is mandatory in accordance with the relevant legislation and research ethics principles.
- For studies requiring ethics committee approval, the official ethics approval document (including date and reference/decision number) is expected to be uploaded to the journal system at the time of submission and clearly stated in the Ethics Committee Approval section of the manuscript.
- Studies that require ethics approval/permission but fail to document it may not be taken into the review process and may be returned during the preliminary evaluation.
Language and Author Guidelines
- Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the journal’s current author guidelines, ethical principles, and citation standards.
- In line with our journal’s publication policy, all manuscripts submitted to the special issue will be accepted in English. If a manuscript submitted in Turkish receives a publication decision, authors will be required to provide the final English version of the study and, where necessary after language review, an institutionally approved translation/proofreading certificate may be requested.
- Authors should follow the author guidelines available on the journal website.
