The aim of this
study is to develop a scale to determine the challenges faced by novice
teachers in the first year. The study was conducted with 329 novice teachers.
Research data was obtained from five point Likert type scale with 46 items. As
a result of Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), it was found that the scale has
five factors with 35 items and explains 56.486% of the total variance. Cronbach Alpha values aimed at determining
reliability of the scale was found as 0.91 for the first factor, 0.81 for
second factor, 0.87 for third factor, 0.88 for fourth factor, 0.83 for fifth
factor and 0.92 for total scale. It was concluded that the scale is a valid and
reliable tool for determining the challenges faced by novice teachers in the
first year.
