One ofthe main problems should befocused on is differentiation of form and genre in Turkish Folk Poetry. The form is constituted by the outer structure of poetry such as poetical units. meter, rhyme and the volume of it like hemistich, coııplets and ete. However, the genre is linked with the content namely, main theme and the metaphors basically effective on meaning ofpoetry. In this study, mdni and türkü /rom anonymous Turkish Folk liıeratııre. ildhi and nefes /rom mystical-religious folk literature, koşma and semai from minstrel literature -ali form the folk literature will be examined in terms of both their forms and genres. As a result, it can be said that among the products of folk literature, formal features predominates in mani, türkü (folk song), koşma, semai, varsağı and destan (legend) wheras koçaklama (epic), güzelleme (praise), taşlama (satire), ağıt (lament), ilahi (hymn), nefes (mystical hymn), ninni (lullaby), devriye, şathiye and nutuk (oration) carry features of genre. Bilmece (riddle) and tekerleme (tongue twister) that are existed in both prose and poetic forms are stili debatab/e whether they have features of form ar genre in folk literature.
