Phenomena such as
globalization and digitalization change the world order. It is inevitable that
the tradition, which faces the future, will adapt to this change. Some professions
based on traditional crafts have been forgotten or transformed in this change.
Many of the traditional arts and professions are in danger of extinction
throughout Turkey. In this article, the last masters of handicrafts such as
blacksmithing, weaving, tinding, tailoring, and the last representatives of
professions such as cherism ,saltism and the past, present and possible future
of their profession or arts are discussed in Develi one of the major districts
of Kayseri. The place of these professions and arts in Turkish culture was
briefly tried to be looked at, the practices of profession and art
professionals in transition from apprenticeship to mastership, the first
Masters, the tricks of the profession or art were revealed in detail with the information
obtained from the field. Question of the profession in the changing
socio-cultural and economic conditions in different contexts or to continue in
a new form by considering the proposal was made in, and professional experience
and future possibilities were discussed with today's cultures of the past
locations. The final status of these arts in Develi has been recorded through
interviews with the last masters of the crafts common in Develi
