Abstract

Abstract

Musculoskeletal injuries in volleyball can result from both aerobic and anaerobic loading, as well as volleyball-specific movements. This review delves into the most common volleyball injuries, their associated risk factors, and preventive strategies. It identifies ankle, knee, shoulder, and lumbal injuries as the most prevalent injuries in volleyball. The review proposes various strategies for injury prevention, including rule changes, technical training, supportive equipment, rehabilitation programs, neuromuscular training, stabilization and mobility exercises. Additionally, personalized monitoring and specific technical programs are suggested as potential measures to reduce the risk of injury. This review assesses current prevention strategies aimed at reducing injury risk and minimizing performance declines in volleyball players, while also emphasizing the need for future research to develop more effective interventions. Coaches and health professionals are encouraged to implement preventive strategies using the available information to minimize the risk of injury in volleyball players.
