Abstract

Abstract

As the scientific researches made on trolling actions that disturb the communication on social media increase, roots of these actions can be revealed. Answers to the questions like why the users who tend to trolling do this or what would be the expected satisfaction if it was successful are being searched amongst different scientific fields. As we gather the answers of researches, understanding and disabling of trolling actions and its types become more likely. What we aim with this research is to provide a holistic view to these researches. Failure of a troll depends on noticing the trolling action. The person who realizes that he is being trolled will take the simplest necessary step and be saved from trolling attack. And this simple step is expressed with "don’t feed the troll!" which means keeping quiet, not answering. Working of "don't feed the troll" depends on the condition of identifying the troll. This study is expected to present trolling types action and motivation sources of it. Various trollings are listed and information is given about them and to make them better understood, some trolling examples in Turkey are presented.
