Abstract

Çevresel Kuznet Eğrisi, makroekonominin önde
gelen temel amacı olan ekonomik kalkınma ve çevre arasındaki ilişkiyi analiz
etme açısından önemli bir araçtır. Bu çalışmada, 1964-2009 yılları arasındaki
veriler kullanılarak 91 ülke analiz edilmiş ve değişkenler arasında hem kısa
hem uzun dönemli korelasyonlar tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmadan elde edilen bir
diğer sonuç ise, özellikle düşük gelir düzeyine sahip ülkelerde U şeklindeki
ters ilişkinin açıkça görülebileceğidir. Bu çalışma, odaklanılması gereken
önemli noktanın, ülkeler arasında gelir dağılımına yönelik adaletsizliğin
ortadan kaldırılması ve ülke bazında gelir artırmak yerine uluslararası çevre
protokollerine katılım oranının artırılması için harcanması gereken çabalar
üzerinde olması gerektiğini göstermektedir.
