Tourism Portrait of a Mysterious and Magical Philippines Island: Siquijor

Abstract

In this study, the main geographical features and tourism potential of Siquijor Island are examined. The Siquijor Island is İn the Cental Visayas Islands group of the Philippines. The island of Siquijor, also known as the "Fire Island", is a mystical, mysterious, and magical Philippine island. Although the island has a small surface area, it has captivating natural beauties and rich tourism variety. Due to the increasing number of foreign tourists visiting the island in the last quarter century, Siquijor can be defined as the rising tourism star of the Philippines. In this study, the geographical location, natural and human geographical features of the island of Siquijor are explained, as well as tourism attractions and tourism resources, are briefly discussed. The tourism potential of the island was tried to be illustrated by examining the main beaches, cities, waterfalls, caves, streams, natural protected areas, belief centers, and historical-cultural attractions of the island. In the conclusion of the study, the answer to the question of what are the biggest tourism advantages and disadvantages of the island of Siquijor compared to other islands of the Philippines has been sought.

Gizemli ve Büyülü Bir Filipin Adasının Turizm Portresi: Siquijor

Abstract

Bu çalışmada Filipinler Cumhuriyeti’nde ve Merkezi Visayas adalar grubunda yer alan Siquijor adasının başlıca coğrafi özellikleri ve turizm potansiyeli irdelenmiştir. “Ateş Adası” olarak da bilinen Siquijor adası mistik, gizemli ve büyülü bir Filipin adasıdır. Ada, küçük yüzölçümüne sahip olmasına ragmen ilginç doğal güzellikler ve zengin turizm çeşitliliği barındırır. Son çeyrek yüzyılda adayı ziyaret eden yabancı turist sayısı giderek arttığından dolayı Siquijor, Filipinler Cumhuriyeti’nin yükselen turizm yıldızı olarak tanımlanabilir. Bu araştırmada Siquijor adasının coğrafi konumu, doğal ve beşeri coğrafi özellikleri açıklandığı gibi turizm çekicilikleri ve turizm kaynakları da kısaca ele alınmıştır. Adanın başlıca plajları, kentleri, şelaleleri, mağaraları, akarsuları, doğa koruma alanları, inanç merkezleri ve tarihsel-kültürel çekicilikleri irdelenerek adanın turizm potansiyeli resmedilmeye çalışılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonuç kısmında, Filipinlerin diğer adalarıyla karşılaştırıldığında Siquijor adasının en büyük turizm avantajları ve dezantjları nelerdir sorularına yanıt aranmıştır.
