A Study on Relation of Self Perception and Alienation on High School Students

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the relationship between the alienation and self-perception of the students who attend high schools. In this research of communicative scanning model, the sample consisted of 352 students who have education in the city centre and districts of Osmaniye in 2008-2009 academic year. In the research, ‘Student Alienation Scale’ (Sanberk, 2003) to evaluate the alienation level of the students and ‘Social Comparison Scale’ (Gilbert, Allan & Trent, 1991) to measure the level of self perception were used with ‘Personal Information Form’ as a data base. The research results revealed that there were a negative relationship between the alienation level and the self perception of the students, indicated the students who consider that the school is unsafe have low self perception and these students alienate more, and students in vocational high school have more self-perception than Anatolian high school students.

Lise Öğrencilerinde Yabancılaşma ve Benlik Algısı İlişkisi

Abstract

ÖZET
Bu araştırma ile lisede öğrenim görmekte olan öğrencilerin yabancılaşma ve
benlik algıları arasındaki ilişkinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. İlişkisel tarama modelindeki
çalışmanın örneklemini 2008–2009 öğretim yılında Osmaniye il merkezi ve ilçelerinde
öğrenim görmekte olan 352 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı
olarak, ‘Kişisel Bilgi Formu’ ile birlikte, öğrencilerin yabancılaşma düzeylerini belirlemek
üzere ‘Öğrenci Yabancılaşma Ölçeği’ (Sanberk, 2003); benlik algı düzeylerini belirlemek
amacıyla ise ‘Sosyal Karşılaştırma Ölçeği’ (Gilbert, Allan ve Trent, 1991) kullanılmıştır.
Araştırma bulguları, öğrencilerin yabancılaşma düzeyleri ile benlik algıları arasında ters
yönde bir ilişkinin var olduğunu; okul güvenliğini yetersiz bulan öğrencilerin benlik
algılamalarının düşük, yabancılaşma düzeylerinin ise yüksek düzeyde olduğunu ve meslek
lisesi öğrencilerinin benlik algısı düzeylerinin Anadolu lisesinde okuyan öğrencilere göre
daha yüksek olduğunu göstermiştir.
