Examination of the Relationship between Hopelessness and Family Relations of High School Students according to Some Variables
Abstract
The aim of this research is to explore the relationship between hopelessness and family
relations of high school students. The sample of the study is consisted of public and private
high school students in Anatolian side of İstanbul city, at the 2006-2007 academic year.
The sample has 353 high school students of 167 females and 186 males from 10th and 11th
class. The questionnaire which is developed by the researcher to collect information about
sociodemographic features of the students, ‘Beck Hopelessness Scale’(HS), ‘McMaster
Family Assessment Device’ are used as the type of this survey study. The results of the study show that there is not significant correlation between hopelessness of the high school
students and their family relations. Besides, the hopelessness scores of the students of the
public schools higher than private school’.
