The Program for International Student Assessment-2003
Abstract
The Program for International Student Assessment (=PISA) was first
implemented in 2000. Our country was added to this program in 2003. This program is a
system of international assessments for every 3 years and each data-collection effort
assesses one major subject area of reading literacy, mathematics literacy, and science
literacy in depth. In this second cycle, PISA - 2003, mathematics literacy was the subject
area assessed in depth. In this article, the mathematics literacy performance of various
countries is mathematics literacy is shown with compared in European Union and OECD
countries. In addition the average combined mathematics literacy scores are shown by
quarters of the International Socioeconomic Index (=ISEI).
