The Contract in Psychological Counselling and Psychotherapy Process
Abstract
This article is focused on the contract in psychological counseling and psychotherapy
process. According to literature review, the contract is taken into consideration as an
essential stage of counseling/therapy process especially in Transactional Analysis approach
(TA). So, in this article firstly, the contract concept has been evaluated with respect to
basic assumptions of TA, and then respectively, the necessity of making contracts, issues
to be considered in order to make an effective contract, the importance of the principle of
objectivity, the types of contracts which block the changing have been emphasized and in
the end some suggestions about making and keeping contracts have been proposed.
