Evaluation of Potential Creativity Level of School Principals according to Teachers’ Perception Who Work in Primary Education
Abstract
The aim of this study was to determine how school principals use their potential creativity
according to teachers’ perception who work in primary education and to put forward how
creativity of principals of educational organizations. Both principals and employees must
develop new ideas and criticize the fields that are inconvenient and insufficient in solving
the problems that the educational organizations come across with. Moreover it is expected
that principals and the teachers should try to solve the problems that are come acrossed with
and to provide benefits from the results of the work.
In order to improvement and development of educational organizations, the individuals
who display their creativities are needed. In this respect, the school principals have an
important mission in bringing out and using creativity.
This study was carried out with 226 teachers who work in 9 different primary schools
in Gebze. As measurements, 5-likert-type questionnaire of 28 items have been used to
understand teachers’ perception of the school management’s creativity and a survey which
includes 8-items was also used to evaluate the perception of individual creativity. To
analyze mean, persantage, One Way ANOVA, and Post Hoc HSD statistical test were used.
According to the results, the teachers generally think that the school principals have
potential creativities and they use this capability in a positive way. However, in this study,
as an important feature it was considered that potential creativity of principals, who work in
low social-economic schools, were low and the environment of the school was found to be
an important factor in determining creativity of principals.
