The Relationship Between the Problem Solvıig Skills and the Achievement of Graduate Students of the Graduate School of Educational Sciences
Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between problem solving skills and achievement of graduate students attending the departments of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Science and Pscyhology at the Graduate School of Educational Sciences at Dokuz Eylül University. The sample of the research consists of graduate students 39 males and 46 females). For the data collection “Problem Solving Scale”, adapted in Turkish by Şahin, Şahin and Heppner and also “Personal Information Form” developed by the researchers were used. The data were analyzed by using ANOVA, “t” and Scheffe tests and also correlation coefficients were calculated. At the end of the research; the problem solving skills and the achievement of the students were found out to vary significantly in terms of the departments, but not in terms of genders. At the end of the correlation analyses, problem solving skills of the students were found out not to be related to their achievement.
