To prevent high casualties the
heavy materials sholud be kept from falling into the building during an
earthquake and this goal can be achieved by buildings with diagonal beams.
Buildings consisting of brick,
stona or adobe can be reinforced form inside by wooden or metal beams that
prevent the walls form falling inside. If the earthquake gets to strong, the
inner diagonal structure causes the walls only to collapse outside.
