Abstract

Bu çalışma Coğrafi Bilgi Sistemlerinin (CBS) ortaöğretim coğrafya
öğretiminde öğrenci başarısına etkisini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleşmiştir.
Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu Karabük’te bulunan MEB’e bağlı bir Anadolu
lisesinde öğrenim görmekte olan 46 öğrenci (Lise 2. Sınıf) katılmıştır.
Araştırmada öntest-sontest kontrol grublu deneysel araştırma modeli
kullanılmıştır. Uygulama süresince deney grubuna CBS kullanılarak ders
anlatılmış, kontrol grubunda ise geleneksel yöntemlerle ders anlatım yoluna
gidilmiştir. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak kullanılan levha hareketleri ve
depremler” konulu başarı testi deney ve kontrol grublarına öntest ve son test
olarak uygulanmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizi SPSS 15.0 ile yapılmıştır.
Ortaya çıkan bulgulara göre, geleneksel yöntem ve tekniklerle yapılan
uygulamada öğrenci başarısı ortalama % 13.02 artarken, CBS uygulaması
sonrasında öğrenci başarısının %38.86 oranında arttığı görülmüştür. Bu
veriler ışığında gelişmiş birçok ülkede kullanılan CBS’nin ülkemizde de yaygın
bir şekilde kullanılmasının öğrencilerin başarı düzeylerinde olumlu etkilerinin
olacağı düşünülmektedir
